Win vouchers for yourself and for your school!
WeChat is a new research project studying how children talk to each other and make good conversation. For some children this comes naturally, but for others, with different language development, such as in autism, it doesn’t always come easily. In particular, we are looking at ‘conversation alignment’ – this is the way that people tend to use the same words or patterns of talking when their conversation is going well. The project is being carried out by researchers at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and the University of Sussex in Brighton. The WeChat project will find out more about this by doing studies using simple games and conversation tasks. The way that different children do these tasks helps us understand alignment better.
We are having a competition to find the best picture showing what the project is about. The picture needs to be original work, creative and reflect the topic of WeChat: children’s conversation.
The winner will be given a £25 voucher and goody bag and their school will also get a £50 voucher.
We will use the winning design as part of a logo on the website and also on letters and reports that we write to tell people about the results of the project.
The logo needs to be simple, bold and easy to reproduce.
Entries should be by children and young people up to the age of 16. Relatives of members of the judging panel are not allowed to enter.
A winner will be selected by the WeChat team and a panel including students on the autism spectrum and parents.
